Malaysian Delegation Led by Nga Kor Ming Visits Harbin Institute of Technology
On January 6, 2025, Malaysia’s Minister of Housing and Local Government, Nga Kor Ming, led a delegation to visit Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), organized by the Malaysia-China Cultural Tourism Association. HIT Vice President Shuai Yong, along with Wu Jian, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Office, Zhao Yixiao, Dean of the International Education School, Pan Xudong, Executive Dean of the School of Excellence in Engineering, and Chen Jianfei, Associate Dean of the School of Architecture, warmly welcomed the delegation.
Founded in 1920 and based in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, HIT is one of China's leading universities, known as the “cradle of engineers.” The institution has excelled in cutting-edge fields such as satellite technology and robotics, contributing significantly to China's talent pipeline while earning respect and recognition on the global stage.
During the visit, Minister Nga Kor Ming remarked, “HIT’s strong capabilities in engineering, particularly in aerospace, align with Malaysia’s goal of becoming a developed nation through mastery in science, technology, and engineering disciplines.”
The Malaysian delegation also included Member of Parliament Chow Yu Hui, Director-General of the Local Government Bureau Dato' Mohd Fadzli Bin Mohd Kenali, Director-General of the New Village Development Division Lim Shean Lee, Special Task Officer David Tiang Dai Wei, Special Officer Tan Boon Siang, and Vice President of the Malaysia-China Cultural Tourism Association Tan Tiong Yih.
The visit highlights Malaysia’s commitment to fostering educational and technological collaboration with world-renowned institutions like HIT, paving the way for deeper academic and industrial exchanges.
